01 / OUR APPROACH

From a document
to its explanation.

FI-CA is contract accounts receivable and payable subledger accounting, designed to handle large numbers of documents. The relationship between business partner, account, item and transaction provides a starting point for reviewing financial rules and connections to other processes.

02 / HOW WE WORK

Clarify the rules.
Understand the balances.

01

Financial model

We review contract accounts, business partners, transaction types and account determination rules. The workshop connects configuration decisions with examples the finance team can understand.

PROPOSED DELIVERABLEFinancial rules and scenario map.

02

Payments and exceptions

We analyze payment identification, clearing criteria, differences and reversals. We agree how exceptions will be recognized and handled, and what evidence the team needs to validate them.

PROPOSED DELIVERABLEPayment, clearing and reprocessing scenarios.

03

Integration and close

We trace the connection to charge-generating systems and the general ledger. We define reconciliation points, error handling and tests to verify consistency across stages.

PROPOSED DELIVERABLEReconciliation checks and cross-system tests.

Scope, effort and deliverables are agreed for each project.

03 / DECISIONS IN CONTEXT

FI-CA and FI-AR call for a design decision.

Invoice volume alone does not determine whether FI-CA is the right choice. We review industry, account structure, collection processes and integration. In Public Edition, Contract Accounting functions and country availability are checked against current scope; ECC or Private Edition assumptions are not carried over.

04 / FREQUENTLY ASKED

Before we begin.

Does FI-CA replace the general ledger?

No. It is a subledger that integrates with the general ledger. The design must define the posting, transfer and reconciliation rules applicable to the solution.

Is BRIM always required to work with FI-CA?

Context matters: FI-CA is used in different scenarios and industries. We identify the processes that feed it and the components in place before defining the work.

Can you review balance discrepancies?

We can scope a diagnosis based on documents and process rules. We need examples, affected periods, involved systems and current reconciliation criteria to define that review.
